A new analysis of the medical literature shows a worrying association between stroke and prior marijuana use, after looking at a total of 64 patients.
- 81% showed marijuana use under 24 hours prior to the stroke.
- 22% of patients had another stroke after subsequent re-exposure to cannabis
Half had other risk factors for stroke, including tobacco smoking (34%) and alcohol (11%) consumption.
Another report last year was of 2 cases of stroke in a 19 and 26 year old after smoking synthetic marijuana.
